Goals

It's late and I haven't done everything I set out to do.

Ann Cannon at WIFYR asked us to come up with three goals for our works-in-progress. One of mine, now that it is summer vacation, was to write 120 minutes a day. Hey, it's summer vacation. Teachers have all kinds of time then, right? Another goal is to spend at least an hour per day on an older project. That one is 99.9 percent ready to send off to prospective agents. It's been at 99.9 percent for a month or more.

Do other writers set goals? What kind of goals do you set? How does that work out for you?

Last goal: go to bed at a decent time.

  1. Hi, Bruce,

I was at WIFYR, too. Ann is THE greatest, right? Congrats on the new blog!

*I hope to kick off my blog in the next week or two. (Goal #1) Great thing about announcing things like this on a blog is that the public keeps you accountable. So you'll have to come say "hi" WHEN the blog is up (and keep me on my toes!)
*I need to start writing query letters so that I can send out my projects that have been finished since forever. (Goal #2)
*I need to do everything on my To Do list from WIFYR. (Goal #3)
*I need to set reading goals for myself on the books I NEED to read (and WANT to read, until I realize how MUCH I need to read them, which then makes them somehow feel less desirable). (Goal #4)

  2. Way to go, Tabitha. Let me know when it is up and running. The rest are worthy goals, too. Good luck.
